Barry's professional career spans more than 30 years in theatre, jazz, cabaret, comedy, radio and television. He is a graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts School of Opera. He sang the lead role of Vaudemont in the Australian Premier of Tchaikovsky's IOLANTA, Levko in Rimsky-Korsakov's MAYNIGHT . He also sang the role of the Mayor in Britten's ALBERT HERRING. In 2006 Barry travelled to the Netherlands for a number of concerts where he sang the Tenor solos in Bach's ST JOHN'S PASSION.

Most recently Barry appeared in the Sydney and Melbourne seasons of THE BOY FROM OZ playing the role of Manager Wally Bell.

Barry has appeared in the professional productions of MAME, CALL ME MADAM, GUYS AND DOLLS, THE GILBERT & SULLIVAN SHOW, HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS, MACK AND MABEL, ANYTHING GOES, THE MUSIC MAN and A NEW BRAIN. In 2000 Barry performed 2 seasons of PRODIGAL SON creating the role of Harry for the world premier of this new Australian musical. In 2005 Barry directed his first show COSI then THE CLUB in 2009 with Fab Nobs Theatre Company. In 2006 Barry appeared in the Melbourne premier of HELLO AGAIN and THE END OF CIVILIZATION and in 2007 FOUR DOGS AND A BONE and HUMAN RESOURCES for Act-O-Matic. In 2009 Barry appeared in Stella Entertainments IS THERE LIFE AFTER HIGH SCHOOL.

Barry's television appearances include NEIGHBOURS, MARSHAL LAW, GOOD MORNING AUSTRALIA, THE MIDDAY SHOW and HEY, HEY IT'S SATURDAY. For many years Barry was a member of the touring show group Vocamotion. He has also written and performed comedy on THE BREAKFAST SHOW on Radio 3XY in the 1980's as well as touring schools performing in children's theatre.
