Jamie Burgess is a performer, composer, musician and writer from NZ, now based in Melbourne. His previous credits cover all aspects of the performing arts, from leading roles in the Stage Musicals I LOVE YOU, YOU'RE PERFECT, NOW... CHANGE, CATS, COPACABANA and THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD, to straight plays LES LIAISONS DANGEREUSES, BRAINPOWE', original festival work SLEEP/WAKE (for the 2009 Auckland Arts Festival) and touring productions with Capital-E National Theatre for Children, Te Rakau Theatre Company and the Opera BARBER OF SEVILLE'.
Jamie was the musical director for the 2007 YOUNG & HUNGRY arts festival in Wellington, and subsequently musically-directed REVENGE OF THE AMAZONS and the world premieres of PRESENTING: THE TINKLES and BATTALION, the latter of which was included in the NZ INTERNATIONAL ARTS FESTIVAL programme.
Jamie is an accomplished improv-pianist, having played for WiT (Wellington Improv Troupe) and THE IMPROVISORS since 2005, and of his own original works, two have been produced at BATS Theatre in Wellington: his play SHOES and a duologue musical BECOMING THE COURTESAN.
