Laura Tipoki has been playing piano since the age of 3 and was raised in a very musical household with influences ranging from Polynesian music to pop and classical styles. After pursuing qualifications in piano, flute, voice and dance, Laura went on to study classical piano under the tuition of Leah Horowitz and Diane Selmon at the QLD Conservatorium in 2000. Here, her studies included performance, conducting, chamber music and jazz voice. Laura has a broad palette of musical experiences including repetiteur work, playing in original bands, cabaret, arranging and composing.

Since moving to Melbourne 4 years ago, professional highlights include touring with Oz Opera's CARMEN in 2007, playing for Matthew Robinson's METRO STREET Reading starring Nancy Hayes and Verity Hunt-Ballard in 2007, working on the Australian premiere of WICKED for the Melbourne season as first keyboardist, and performing in the recent 2009-2010 Australasian tour of CHICAGO THE MUSICAL in Melbourne, Perth, Singapore and Hong Kong. Laura enjoys working as Musical Director and Lecturer for the Music Theatre courses at the APO International Arts Academy in South Melbourne.
