Growing up on a farm in Gippsland, Phoebe’s love of performing began with Country Music and Highland dance. But when the hometown in question is Moe, how surprised can one be? Soon enough, however, the cowboy hats and tartan kilts were replaced with ballet shoes and Liza Minnelli on vinyl. Her formative years were spent at Julie Ryan Dancers learning every style of dance offered; learning singing with the inspiring Doreen Armstrong; and performing in local theatre. Leaving her moccasins in the cupboard at 16 she headed off to board at Melbourne Girls Grammar in an effort to stamp out her glorious “Moe accent”. After Year 12 Phoebe studied full-time dance at Danceworld Studios; continued her Music Theatre studies at The Victorian College of the Arts, only to be interrupted by her professional debut as Martha Cox in HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL – LIVE ON STAGE! But we all know how that story ends and so… soon after Phoebe found herself undertaking Music Theatre at APO Arts Academy as a scholarship student.

For her vocal training, she wishes to thank Robyn Cooper-Bugg, Sally Bourne, Nicholas McMahon and Merlyn Quaif.

Phoebe currently teaches Dance, Voice and Music Theatre at APO Arts Academy and regularly performs in her band The Feathered Friends with her brother, Owen.
